Desert Light: A Photographer's Unexpected Path

I never planned to leave San Clemente... everyone thought I was a permanent fixture like the pier or the sunset itself. The small beach town had everything – beautiful stretches of sand, year-round perfect weather, and the kind of community where everyone looked after each other. Within an hour's drive, you could surf at dawn and be in the snow or desert by afternoon. It was home.

But life has its surprises. Now I'm watching desert sunsets paint St. George's red rocks, discovering that sometimes the best view isn't the one you're born to, but the one you choose. Utah's landscapes and people have shown me a different kind of beauty – one I never knew I was looking for.

My relationship with photography started with a childhood longing. I was that kid who couldn't take my eyes off other people's cameras, convinced that somewhere inside them was the power to capture what I saw in my head. When I finally got my own, it wasn't just about taking pictures – it was creative outlet and about finding my voice.

The journey has taken me through every corner of photography: capturing moments in action sports, documenting wedding ceremonies, creating editorial fashion shoots. Each genre taught me something different, but high-fashion editorial and glamour work is where I found my stride. It's where technical precision meets creative freedom, and where each shot becomes its own tiny revolution against the ordinary.

While portraiture is a passion instilled in my soul, my day to day life is grinding out hours in the corporate world so that I can build a future for my family and be able to pursue my passion as a creative outlet rather than a job.

Each project I take on now is Select and viewed as an opportunity to find the unexpected angle, the unguarded moment, the story hiding in plain sight.
